Christchurch Airport Guide to Christchurch International Airport - CHC

Christchurch Airport Terminal

In 1935 a new aerodrome was built in Harewood suburb in Christchurch. During the preceding years, many upgrading and developments were done in order to host larger aircraft and more passengers. Soon, the airport was able to host domestic and international flights.

On 2006, Christchurch Airport underwent a redevelopment which comprised an expansion of the multi-storey car park, the control tower, a separate domestic lounge and the construction of an integrated terminal precinct to replace the old domestic and international terminals and expand the international facilities. The new terminal was opened on 2013 despite the several earthquakes that hit the zone during 2010 – 2012 period.

The main terminal of Christchurch Airport is an integrated terminal precinct which hosts both international and domestic flights. The domestic area is located in the north-west part of the main terminal, while the international area in north-east part.

Christchurch Airport main passenger terminal is formed by the international part (north-east), the central shared part and the domestic part (north-west).

By this way, the Airport terminal is split in two levels:
